This past weekend, we attended the Jaguar Alive Driving Experience here in Alameda, California, just an hour North of our headquarters and what an incredible experience this was!
So what is this experience all about you ask? This is an exclusive invite-only event running throughout the United States that brings the true feeling of what it means to be a Jaguar owner organized by brand pillars, Style, Refinement, Technology & Performance.
We begin our experience with a lesson about the British history of the Jaguar brand while being handed a lesson from professional driving instructors on how to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Jaguar lineup, XF, XJ and XK models.
The first of the four experiences of the day starts with an exhilarating street drive in the flagship XJ sedan intended to give you a sense of Jaguar style as we take a leisurely drive around the naval base. With a vehicle that packs over 500 horses under the
bonnet hood, we experienced quite adrenaline rush in an activity simply meant to showcase the finer points of what Jaguar is all about.
As we took a break to enjoy some complimentary British food, we headed over to an autocross course that allowed for us to compete with our fellow attendees and learn about the refinement in the suspension of both the XF and XJ models. As we poetically rounded cones on the naval runway while listening to the state-of-the-art Bowers & Wilkins sound system, we realized this was not your average driving experience but more of vehicular ballet.
After years of rebuilding the Jaguar brand, a company not historically known for being leaders in technology, we must say that the partnership with Ford and recent funding through being recently acquired by Tata, we’re now seeing a focus on technology in every creature comfort. In the “tech tent”, we experienced an XJ’s traction control capabilities in real time on a teflon coated course designed to mimic black ice.
At 0-60 at 4.2 seconds, we felt the raw acceleration of a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 XJR-S which rounded out our experience giving us our final taste of Jaguar performance.
We were treated well, had a great experience, learned a lot and had some great opportunities to provide photos that make this experience come alive, enjoy!
