eBay Listing: 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge

When the Plymouth Road Runner hit the streets in 1968, Pontiac was caught off-guard. Their GTO had started the muscle car movement, but here was Mopar, taking up a large part of the market with a low-priced low-option entry that was a real performer.

Pontiac needed something with a lot of flash that resonated with young buyers, and they got that with the GTO Judge starting in 1969. Named after a skit in the popular “Laugh In” television show, the Judge offered plenty of performance from its 400-ci Ram Air engine, and lots of eyeball in its available Carousel Red paint and unique stripes. It couldn’t beat the Road Runner in price, but it was notorious, and that was enough to bring the GTO back to the forefront of the muscle market.

This ’70 Judge is said to be a numbers-matching car, finished in its original Granada Gold hue with yellow side stripes. The seller says it’s a factory Judge with just over 50k original miles. Options include power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, factory a/c, and dealer-added tilt wheel.

Both the engine compartment and the trunk show a high level of detailing, and the interior looks just as it would have in 1970, complete in Sandalwood vinyl. Pictured docs include the original build sheet (a huge plus when buying American muscle) and the dealer’s original invoice.

A total of 422 1969-1971 GTO Judges have sold on eBay Motors over the past several years. Average prices have ranged from $30k to over $45k, depending on options, color, and history. If you’re in the market for a good example of the ultimate GTO, see this one’s listing here.
