Nothing screams American muscle more than a huge Roots-style blower on top of a big-block engine. This Camaro has been given the full quarter-mile treatment, with all the right parts for either show cruising or high-level weekend drag races. If you want to go fast, this is your car.
The seller spells out all the engine’s specs in his listing, with highlights including an original 1969 427 block bored .060 over, steel crank, H-beam rods, Arias 8.5:1 pistons, ported rectangle port heads, solid roller cam, teflon-lined vintage 6-71 supercharger, dual QuickFuel 750 cfm blower carbs, and more. It’ll make 750 hp on 93 octane. Overdrive the blower, throw in some race gas, and the dyno zings to nearly 1,000 hp.
All that power spins through a Transmission Specialties-prepped GM Turbo 400 with a reverse manual valve body, 3,800 rpm stall torque converter, and transbrake. Out back is a narrowed 12-bolt Chevy rear with Moser 35-spline axles, 4.56 gears, C-clip eliminators (a notorious weak point with 12-bolts), and a spool. All that translates to very hard launches and quick quarter-mile times.
Four-wheel discs bring everything to a halt, and a full 14-point roll cage keeps things both safe and legal at the race track. The seller says the car isn’t numbers matching or in show condition, but he does call it scary fast, with a bulletproof engine, transmission, and rear end.
