eBay Listing: 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

The ’67 SS 396 was the high point of first-gen Chevelles. Their styling was arguably some of the cleanest of the era, with coke bottle lines throughout, and the 396 offered plenty of grunt in several different configurations. It was just the thing to take on Mopars, Mustangs, and GTOs on the street and strip – all while bringing a couple of friends with you.

This car is a factory 138-code SS car, according to the VIN. The seller does not say if it was an original 396 car or not, but the current engine has only covered about 4,000 miles since a major rebuild. Work included a .030 overbore to 402 cubic inches, 10.0:1 pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads, hydraulic cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake manifold, Holley 750 double pumper, MSD Pro Billet distributor, Hooker Competition headers, Be Cool aluminum radiator, and more. The transmission is a Muncie M20 4-speed with a Lakewood bellhousing and Centerforce Clutch, which sends power to a 12-bolt rear end with 3.42 gears and a Positraction unit — all of which is perfect for a hot street cruiser.

Other upgrades over stock include SSBC 12-inch power disc brakes up front, fresh drum brakes in rear, and Wheel Vintique Rally wheels wrapped in 225/70/R15 and 275/60/R15 rubber. The paint is Butternut Yellow, which could have been this car’s original color, and the interior looks great in black vinyl, although the clock and radio are said to be inoperative.

Overall, this looks like a great driver Chevelle SS with a good list of options to make it both fun and safe to drive in modern traffic. A total of 4,300 1966 and 1967 Chevelles have sold on eBay Motors in the past few years, with prices ranging from $12k to $32k depending on condition. This one could be yours. Check it out here.
