BMW 3 Series Diesel, First Impressions

The all-new BMW 328 Diesel will change the way you view diesel. Watch actor Lamman Rucker’s first impressions as he gets behind the wheel to feel the diesel difference. BMW has introduced the 328d, powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel developing 180 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. While EPA estimates declare the new 3 Series diesel can achieve up to 45 mpg on the highway, the engine still delivers sufficient performance to accelerate to 60 mph in about seven seconds and will come only with the excellent eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

finally an affordable mass market diesel

    • Derek Mau says:

Have you considered the VW Jetta or Passat TDI models?

Audi has also extended the TDI powerplant to several of their models, but the A6 TDI starts at $47,400.

  2. Neopolitan says:

Since when is anything made by BMW affordable??? An affordable and supposedly incredible mass market diesel, if it is ever released in the US, is Mazda’s skyactiv diesel.

  3. David says:

How, exactly, is Mr. “Rucker” even remotely qualified to evaluate this car and its engine? Has he ever turned a wrench in his life? Does he have the faintest clue how a Diesel engine functions?

BMW: Please find yourself a real spokesman to evaluate the car. Tell us what makes it different, how you accomplished these feats, and why it’s worth the price. The moment I see another phony wind-bag looser like Mr “Rucker” talking about anything I know for certain it’s a sham. You make great cars and you can do better than this.
