As we continue our month-long look at the Nissan GT-R®, we next wanted to take a look at the genesis of the current generation from 2008 to today. Nissan has put together a fantastic video that covers the evolution of the GT-R® and the improvements that the company realized in each successive model year. The barometer for performance improvement was none other than lap time at the 13-mile Nürburgring track in Germany, a playground and source of bragging rights for many manufacturers. Each year Nissan was able to reduce the GT-Rs® lap times by multiple seconds, which is no small feat. The latest recorded lap time of the GT-R® clocks in at 7:24.22, putting it ahead of hypercars such as the Maserati MC12 and the Ferrari Enzo.

Double podium for eBay Motors at Oulton Park

Coming off a spring break during the Dunlop MSA BTCC race season, the WSR eBay Motors team wins multiple podium spots. Clearly the Viper is still a Viper at first glance, but it has been thoroughly redone. The hood, roof and deck lid are all carbon fiber. The doors and side sills are aluminum. Only the front and rear caps and rear quarters are RIM plastic like the old car. The headlamps and taillights feature 21 and 50 LEDs respectively. Look carefully at details and you’ll see a snake-skin pattern in the lights, vents and many other places.

Retaining its all aluminum 8.4-liter V-10, but with a stiffer block casting, lighter valvetrain, forged pistons and sodium filled exhaust valves, its output is now a Corvette-ZR1-beating 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, the engine’s unique pushrod cam-in-cam design for variable-valve timing has been retained, as has the 6200 redline with a 6400-rpm limiter.

Safety, performance, warranties—these are just a few of the issues that parents must consider when discussing a new car purchase. Yet by considering the following tips, parents can make informed decisions and get their teen into the right vehicle—at the right price!

Price

Establishing a budget for buying a car is important. Whether the car is to be purchased outright or financed is an initial consideration and will necessarily dictate the types of cars that parents and teens will look at. While car salespeople can help lead buyers to vehicles in their price range, there are also many online tools that can help like vehicle cost calculators, for instance. Moreover, when searching for a car online at eBay Motors, for instance, buyer have additional resources to help them find a car in their price range like those available through the Vehicle Buyer Service page. Also, the purchase of a new or used car will affect price. In either case, however, always consider the warranty and certainly the history if buying a pre-owned vehicle.

Safety

Look for brands that are internationally known for their safety features and may even have garnered awards. All the brands will tout their safety features so it’s important to dig deeper. Look for brands that go far beyond the minimum requirements and have established records as safe vehicles.

Accommodates Needs

If your teen is an aspiring drummer or ice hockey goalie, it makes no sense to purchase a two-seater. Try to find a vehicle that will accommodate your teen’s lifestyle. Will they need to drive to college and live on campus? In that case, having plenty of storage is important for moving. Help your teen imagine life in various types of cars and take plenty of test drives to determine if the vehicle will meet all lifestyle criteria.

Reliability

Teens lead busy lives so they need a vehicle that can keep up with them. Moreover, parents want the peace of mind of knowing that when a teen travels far to attend a concert or goes off to school, they will be less likely to break down. Again, many car makes are known for their reliability and durability. Read reviews and talk to other car owners who can recommend them. Explain to teens the proper way to maintain the vehicle in order to enhance their reliability over time.

Talk to the Insurance Company

People often forget to include the insurance provider in the purchase conversation. These companies make it their business to know which vehicles are safest and which best hold their value. Moreover, it will do the family no good to find a car with a great asking price but high insurance premiums.

By following these tips and keeping these car-buying considerations in mind, parents and teens can make an informed decision when choosing that memorable first car. It’s a major purchase, so take your time, do the research, and always be sure to get warranty information in writing!

Found on eBay – literally – Sunkist Orange 240Z built by Ken Foster. Current owner flew to Dallas and drover it over 1,000 miles back home to Florida without missing a beat. A Classic Car Shipping Guide from uShip

You’ve just found the classic car of your dreams on eBay Motors. It’s nearly 3,000 miles away. Now, how do you ship it home?
Carriers that specialize in transporting classic cars will know how to deliver your vehicle safely and avoid causing damage. And whether you are buying a vehicle from a distance, relocating, moving an unrestored antique, or need top-notch enclosed auto transport for a fully customized hot rod, you’ll find that selecting a quality, professional auto transporter is well worth the money.
Follow these easy steps to ensure that your classic car is delivered as safely and quickly as possible.

1. Find the Right Carrier
Research auto carriers online and look specifically for transporters who specialize in the transportation of classic cars. Sites like uShip.com offer carrier profiles with real-life customer feedback so you can review real-time information on carriers and their past history. You’ll also want to make sure your transporter has a fully enclosed truck or trailer to protect your classic car from the elements during travel.

2. Obtain Proper Insurance
After selecting a carrier, confirm their liability and cargo coverage, including any deductibles. Your personal auto coverage will generally not cover damage incurred while in transit with your auto carrier. If your carrier’s limit of liability is not adequate for your classic car, they should be able to help you find the coverage you need. Typically, the carrier will have coverage in the $50,000 to $100,000 range, and more if they specialize specifically in classic car transport. If the carrier does not have adequate protection, consider purchasing more coverage so that your classic car will be protected up to its replacement cost. Protect yourself by taking detailed photos of your car before and after it is shipped. If you need to claim damages at a later date, these photos make all the difference.

3. Converse in Depth
Speak with your transporter in depth before booking with them. Asking questions opens an important line of communication that offers clarity about the pick-up and drop-off process for your vehicle, and allows you to gauge the transporter’s professionalism. Agree on convenient pick-up and delivery locations that suit your needs and the driver’s accessibility. Remember to keep a realistic timeline, as well. Unlike normal parcel shipping, unforeseen delays can occur on the road. Nevertheless, don’t be afraid to stay in contact with your transporter and ask for an updated time of arrival.

4. Protect Your Vehicle
Most importantly, protect your vehicle before transport. Leave only a quarter tank of fuel in your vehicle, unless your transporter tells you otherwise. Take all of your belongings out of the vehicle. Here’s why: items left inside your car will likely bounce around during travel, and will weigh down the vehicle, which increases the cost of transport. If your car is traveling on stacked carrier, request to have your vehicle “top loaded.” Top loading will ensure that your vehicle will travel on the upper deck of the carrier, preventing any potential for contact with road debris and oil drips.

Brian O’Conner is born and raised in Barstow, California. Growing up under a violent and drunk father, Brian came to resent his father. He was taught by his mother how to drive, consequently causing a four car pileup on his first driving lesson. During his teen years Brian worked by stealing or boosting cars and selling them to chop shops. He was arrested and spent 2 years in juvie, where he met Roman Pierce, who became his best friend.

In the first film, The Fast and the Furious, Brian is working as an undercover detective with the LAPD, who assigns him the task of solving a series of semi-trailer truck hijackings by street racers.
