1986 Volkswagen Scirocco Racer

Fancy a future sprinting around world-famous racetracks but just not sure how to get there? Joining a local motorsporting group for the masses like SCCA, NASA, etc. is a step toward your future glory.  And what better way to show up than with your own turn-key race car? This 1986 Volkswagen Scirocco could be just what you need.

The seller is quick to note the car is not street legal and cannot be driven to the track. The SCCA annual tech inspection is good through the better part of the year, ending in October. And it’s able to be raced in appropriate classes at NASA events.

VW’s ever popular 1.8-liter 16-valve DOHC inline 4-cylinder powers the racer. A Quaife limited slip differential puts power to the front wheels.  And you’ll be nestled safely inside the roll cage constructed from 1.5” x 0.095” steel tubing strapped down in your 5-point harness. I presume the car is well sorted too, as the seller lists no DNFs.

Less than a handful of 1986 VW Sciroccos have sold on eBay Motors in the last year. They have averaged between $2k and $4k for the better examples, but none have been full-tilt racers like this one.
