When big blocks ruled the road, nobody put out as much factory-rated horsepower as the Chevelle’s LS6. Underrated (as most performance vehicles at the time were) at 450 hp, it ran from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The quarter-mile pass lasted only 13.81 seconds at 104 mph.
This red 1970 Chevelle is a rare piece indeed. Out of the estimated 3,840 LS6 hard tops, very few are still in original, unrestored condition. The seller says the drivetrain is the same one that it came with from the Arlington, TX assembly plant. Original paint, smog pump, trunk mat and spare tire, too.
The only interior wear showing is a three inch seam tear on the driver’s seat. The clock, radio and gauges are all operational. The 26,826 miles are documented. Protect-O-Plate, license receipts and build sheet come with the car.
With cars of this caliber, it’s always important to verify what you’re getting into. Experts are available for inspecting and authenticating cars.
