1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

In the market for some serious Mustang muscle? This Mach 1 is the car for you. It’s a rare 428-ci R-code Super Cobra Jet car, which was rated by the factory at 335 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. That’s good enough for a zero-to-60 sprint of 5.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 13.9 seconds at 103 mph—just the thing to take on your friend’s big-block Chevelle or Camaro. And as this car’s engine is not numbers matching, you wouldn’t have to feel bad having fun with it out on the dragstrip every once in a while.

The seller provides a Marti Report with this car, documenting a January ’69 build date as well as the original selling dealer: Young Ford in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s said to be in concours condition throughout, and is one of just 235 C6 automatic-equipped examples painted in Raven Black. Other options include power steering, power brakes, AM radio, and tinted glass. The seller notes just 86,000 miles from new.

The car was given a “mild restoration” in 2010, and the seller says all components were restored or replaced as per the Mustang Club of America’s specifications. It looks complete and correct from top to bottom, all the way down to its Goodyear Polyglas tires and factory hubcaps.

Over 3,600 1969 Ford Mustangs have been sold on eBay Motors over the past two years, with prices ranging from $12,500 to $32,000 on average. Obviously, rare original cars are worth the most, and this one’s documentation ought to make it expensive. So if you’re looking for one of the ultimate ’60s Mustangs for your collection, check this one out here.
