1967 Opel Kadett Rallye

Opel introduced the Rallye coupe in 1967 as the performance model of the Kadett lineup. Horsepower was bumped up to 67 from the standard 54 by use of higher compression and twin Solex carburetors. Not bad considering the car only weighed 1,700 lbs. Additional standard equipment included power front discs, dual exhaust and console gauges.

This ’67 Rallye has just two owners from new and comes with an extensive service history, including the delivery sheet and records from the 1970s. The car was repainted once—long ago, according to the seller—and it’s starting to peel in spots. There is also some rust damage. A section of the trunk on the driver’s side will need attention. Repair has been started in another area with an 18×18 inch section cut out of the passenger’s side pan.

The seller says the car does not leak and runs extremely well. A recent tune-up no doubt helped with that. The original twin Solex carbs are long gone, and in their place is a single Weber. According to the seller, shifting is precise and the clutch doesn’t slip a bit.

Just five 1967-73 Opel Kadett Rallyes have sold on eBay Motors in the past three years. Good to excellent examples have averaged from $3.6k to over $4k. Click here to see this one’s auction listing.
