Are you interested in reviving an Italian supercar with a top speed of 165 mph? This 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada has reportedly been under the same ownership since 1973, but it’s been stuck in storage for the last 30 years. Bringing it back to life may turn out to be relatively painless, as it reportedly “started right up on remote gas can.”
It may seem funny to see a Chevrolet 327-ci Turbo-Fire V8 in the pictures, but that’s what was fitted in this car from the factory. Topped with a 4-bbl Holley carburetor, the powerplant put out 365 hp—a lot for the tall, skinny tires of the time. Should the engine require parts, they’ll be a lot easier to source than parts for contemporary Italian multi-cam engines.
Only an estimated 100 Bizzarrini 5300s were built from 1965 to 1969, and most were aluminum-bodied like the one here. But there were a few fiberglass “America” examples as well. The body appears straight and mostly damage-free, but there appears to be a problem directly behind the front driver’s side tire on the corner of the fender.
If you’re a serious bidder, be sure to ask a lot of questions of the seller — after all, this car is likely going to be relatively expensive, so you’ll want as much information as you can get. It would also be prudent to hire an expert to inspect the car, as that can only assure a knowledgeable transaction and peace of mind.
