We’d love to see this ’66 Stout put back on stock-sized black steelies and lowered just a touch. We’d also consider losing the rear bumper, which it would have been delivered without when new. Otherwise, we’d load it up and use it like the work truck that it is.
These tiny, odd trucks were the first Toyota pickups imported to the U.S., and today they are extremely rare. The mechanicals were simple and robust, but the light-gauge sheet metal that made them perfect for moderate hauling and good gas mileage also made them prone to rust.
Vintage Japanese pickups have yet to get expensive as collectibles, but they’re still valued as reliable, albeit quirky, work-horses. A clean, rust-free example will be equally in demand, whether it’s been driven 100k, 200k or 300k miles. See the listing for this one here.
