1964 MGB roadster

This 1964 MGB roadster looks like a fun way to wheel into the best time of year. The chrome bumpers, steel dash, and British Racing Green body look to be in great shape. The black interior looks clean, and that steel dash looks very, very cool. This car was made for summer afternoon runs down two-lane highways.

The car is an older restoration and has a brand-new tan top, which seems like a bit much wedged between green paint and a black interior. The non-original seats have been recovered. The seller claims that the  “car runs and drives, starts and stops 100%,” which is a good start.

The car has minor corrosion to the floor and cross support, and that is shown in the photographs. This isn’t a surprise in a car that has spent much of its 48 years — and 128,883 miles — in Pennsylvania. The seller, who is very forthright about the strengths and weaknesses of the car, says the right rear spring is soft and the carpet should be re-glued.

The car still has the original, 4-cylinder, 3-bearing, 1.8-liter engine, and the seller claims that the oil pressure is strong.

The original electrical system was changed to 12 volts, and the battery is mounted in the trunk. The radiator was replaced. The seller says the wire wheels are sound — but could use refinishing. All in all, a fun summer car that may not empty your car slush fund. Thousands of these cars remain on the road. Repair shops and parts are easy to find.
