eBay Listing: 1964 Ford Galaxie
Sometimes when you come across a car in the world, we can’t help but take a second look.
Sometimes while driving along the road we’ll spot a roadside treasure, or while going through ads, or sometimes the happenstances of life just throw a car our way. And, sometimes that car makes us all want to take a look and see for ourselves why a car speaks to us. Sometimes it is an inexplicable factor about certain vehicles that just makes them a standout. In the case of this 1964 Ford Galaxie, something about the vehicle in question spoke to us, and we couldn’t help but wonder, “Why?”
After some pondering, we came to the realization that these cars have curb appeal based on three factors that make the car a stand out:
- The body chrome utilized on the 1964 Galaxies just gleams in the sunlight; and,
- The vibrant period correct colors, in this case, teal blue are evocative of the late 1950’s to the early 1960’s; and,
- Finally, the lines of the vehicle, sculpted by hand and not computer, is what most made this and many other vehicles of its generation the classics that they are.
This human design creativity, cannot be replicated by computer, and is truly extraordinary. Sure, modern cars are more aerodynamic, and fuel efficient, but will they ever achieve classic status based on actual design rather than on age? Time will tell on that one.
Research about the Galaxie 500XL revealed that 1964 was the last year of the second-generation body style. And this style was more aerodynamic than previous years because it was designed to be so for NASCAR pursuits by the Ford Motor Company.
