Do you like your cars classy, sophisticated, and debonair?  Do you have time and resources to take on a massive project? Aston Martins are inherently stylish, even after wasting away for 20 years in a garage.  This DB2/4 is already stateside, claimed to have a clear title, and a VIN is given for buyers interested in researching the car’s history. But there’s no hiding the fact that it’ll need a total restoration.

The seller says this car “might be the most original example of a left hand drive DB2/4 in existence.”  Which may be true, but as it sits now, it won’t win many preservation class awards. Obviously, the garage it sat in wasn’t climate controlled, and it may not have even been fully enclosed.

But for those in the market for an original Aston to fix, the upside is the original engine is there, it’s mostly complete, and it hasn’t been half-hearted half-started in a restoration. It’s one of just 492 1953-55 DB2/4 Mk I saloons, and it looks like a great starting point.

The few DB2/4s that have made their way to eBay Motors have averaged $68k to $73k for good to excellent examples.  It’ll be wise to do some homework on what it’ll cost to make something like this drivable, as if you spend too much buying it, you could be underwater before even getting to run it around the block. Check it out in more detail here.

The price of these pre DB4 Astons has always lagged behind. This model is arguably less pretty than the earlier DB2 and the later DB 2/4 MkIII. Having said that, these Mulliner bodied cars are over built and less complex to restore than the later cars. That (and the useful hatch) makes them a great choice for touring/ rallies.
