1951 Chevrolet 3100 Series Pickup

Chevrolet’s Advance Design pickup series was the company’s first major post-war truck redesign.  It also went on to become the best seller every year it was available—1947 through 1954. And with collectors starting to see the value in these pickups as usable parts haulers, they’ve been spiking in popularity the last several years, along with many other classic American trucks.

This ½-ton truck’s reported seven-year-old frame-off restoration is starting to show some signs of age and use, with scratches and chips in the paint and some cracks in the glass. But the seller also points out the truck’s exceptionally solid undercarriage, a lack of rust, and the straightness of the body and frame. Custom touches include a light blue metallic spray and fresh air cowl vent elimination.

The original steering wheel, three-on-the-tree manual transmission, and floor-mounted push-button start give this ’51 all the right original touches, and the rebuilt original engine and a 12-volt power conversion mean it should be both simple to use and reliable for years to come. With truck values on the rise, this is an affordable classic to consider.
